The most common reason for this is your DMA is not enabled

Turn your DMA modes on in the Device Manager

• Press Window key + Pause Break (System properties)
  
• Control + Tab 3 times (Hardware Tab)
  
• Alt + D (Device Manager)
  
• Tab, type I (until IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers is selected)
  
• Right arrow to expand
  
• Type P (select Primary IDE Channel)
  
• Enter (wait until Primary IDE Channel Properties appears)
  
• Control + Tab to Advanced Settings Tab
  
• Change your Transfer Mode(s) to DMA if available (chances are, it is set to PIO only)
  
• Do that for both Device 0 and Device 1, and repeat for any other Primary IDE Channels that you have
• Click OK
• And then open the Secondary IDE Channel listing. Do the same as above
• Restart

By editing the Registry you can do it in following way -

Run REGEDIT. Go to the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E96A-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
It has subkeys like 0000, 0001, 0002, etc. Normally 0001 is the primary IDE channel, 0002 the secondary, but other numbers can occur under certain circumstances. You have to go through these subkeys and check the DriverDesc value until you find the proper IDE channel.
Delete MasterIdDataChecksum or SlaveIdDataChecksum, depending on whether the device in question is attached as master or slave, but it can't actually hurt to delete both. Reboot. The drive DMA capabilities will be redetected.
Note that many CD and DVD drives only use UDMA-2, because their data rate is much lower than that of a hard disk. This is normal.

Error 0x800c0133 when you are retrieving email with your Outlook Express (OE) is because of currupted Inbox file or 2 GB file limit of the mailbox

To remedy please follow these steps:

• Open OE, on the left pane, right click "Local Folders", select "New Folder...", specify a name for your new folder as "Temp".
  

• If you are still able to access "Inbox", move all mails in "Inbox" to the new "Temp" folder.
  

• Go to menu "Tools" -> "Options" -> "Maintenance" tab -> "Store Folder" button. It will show the location of your Inbox file, please remember this location.
  

• Close OE, go to the location mentioned above, delete the file "inbox.dbx".
  

• Restart OE, the "Inbox" folder should be auto recreated. Move back your mails to the new "Inbox", remove the "Temp" folder.

2. Launch the Intelligent Updater program using the /DUMP command.
For the yyyymmdd-vvv-X86.EXE file, use the /EXTRACT command.
This will extract all the virus definitions to the folder. For
example, type yyyymmdd-vvv-I32.EXE /DUMP to extract the files. Or
type yyyymmdd-vvv-X86.EXE /EXTRACT [path] where path represents
the current directory. The yyyymmdd represents the date of the
definition set. The vvv represents the version number. For example,
the filename could be 20021231-001-I32.EXE for a December 31
definition set.
3. Copy the files to the virus definition folder. Copy the files to
this location:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\VirusDefs\Incoming\

NOTE: Copy the file ZDONE.DAT last. This file signals Norton
AntiVirus that the definition set has been completely loaded. If
it is not loaded last, it may cause errors

Symptoms
When you open System Configuration Utility [MSCONFIG], Registry Editor or Task Manager, they flash for a second and quit.
This symptom is caused by Viruses. These three are important system utilities which the viruses target.A quick workaround is to rename the files and run them. Extracting new copies of these files with the same name may not help. Rename these utilities and run them or use MS-MVP Doug Knox's Emergency Msconfig, Regedit, Task Manager utility. This utility creates usable copies of MSCONFIG, REGEDIT AND TASK MANAGER by creating copies of the actual files to C:\EmergencyUtils folder.

This is a Visual Basic Script file which will remove Windows® Messenger from Windows® XP. It will also adjust your System Registry to prevent a long delay when opening Outlook Express when Windows Messenger is removed or disabled.

To use: Download the xp_messenger_remove.vbs file and save it to your hard drive. Close Windows Messenger if its open, or active in your System Tray. Double-click the xp_messenger_remove.vbs file. You will be prompted that Messenger must be closed to continue. Click Yes. This script makes the same changes as the manual procedure, below.

If you prefer to remove Windows Messenger manually, click Start, Run and enter the following command:RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\inf\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove

Note: This will prevent a long delay when opening Outlook Express if you have the Contacts pane enabled. To prevent this, click Start, Run and enter REGEDIT Go to:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Outlook ExpressRight click in the right pane and select New, Dword value.

Give it the name Hide Messenger Double click this new entry and set the value to 2.
